PS4 and Xbox 720 in 2012

With new rumors on the web stating that the Xbox 720 will release in 2012, more rumors are spreading about a 2012 PS4 release.

Well, if the former is true, so is the latter. Sony PlayStation has already confirmed that the PS4 will release around the same time as the Xbox 720, since they learned their lesson with the older generation of consoles.

While we’re hoping both release next year (fingers crossed!), we will know the truth during June: E3 is where companies unveil the latest and hottest products under development that they plan to release during Holiday season.

So, come June, we’ll know if we should expect the PlayStation 4 during 2012.

PS4 Releasing in March 2013?

That’s right: another rumor has hit the web about the PS4. Sony, of course, refuses to comment about “rumors and speculation”, but you never know when someone actually hits the nail on the head and actually gets a guess right.

Supposedly, this isn’t a guess. A “reliable anonymous source” heard some words during an “upper level meeting” that makes him think the PS 4 will release March 2013: “PlayStation 4 in 18 months”.

Is it possible? Sure. Anything is possible. But it would be strange for a console to release outside of the shopping season. If anything, perhaps they mean (if this is true anyway) that the PS4 will unveil during E3 2013. That’s entirely plausible!

Many developers anticipate the PlayStation 4, simply because they want upgraded hardware for game capabilities. In 18 months, the potential of the PS3 will be exhausted.

PS4 Release Date Rumor

Sony has been very tight-lipped when it comes to the PlayStation 4. While we know it will bear the name PS4, we still know nothing about the tech or release date.

A “top developer,” says IndustryGamers, states that a 2012 PS4 unveiling and 2013 PS4 release date is expected.

Now, this doesn’t seem very likely, but who honestly knows?

Next year, the Wii U releases, and we know the xBox 720 and PS4 won’t be too far behind. That’s why I’ve always said a 2013 unveiling and 2014 PS4 release date is more likely.

It’s probably just another rumor–one among the millions made so far about the Sony PS4, but we can dream.
